Happy New Decade everyone! Jeez it seems like we haven’t had a post for you guys since a decade ago! Okay now that we’ve got the terrible Dad jokes out of the way it’s time to look back at the past ten years in gaming, take stock, remember the good times fondly, and prepare for a new era in gaming. This episode of the DBG podcast is part 1 of our four part Decade in Review series. Four parts? Yeah well it’s hard to compress ten years of amazing video games into a single podcast episode so we decided to indulge ourselves.
On part 1 of our mini-series Matt & Lucas discuss their favourite moments from 2010-2012 as well as having a bit of a chat about some interesting highlights or stories from the past ten years. They discuss the rise of mobile gaming, the life of the PlayStation Vita, the roller-coaster of success, bankruptcy, and then resurrection that was Telltale Games. We hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed making this episode and we are looking forward to sharing part 2 with you soon! Read more…
Respawn have brought us the single player Star Wars experience we have been waiting for. Fallen Order has that iconic Star Wars feel thanks to a well written story and brilliant sound design and paves the way for an all new SW gaming franchise.
An amalgamation of all of the best bits from the Need For Speed games over the years. Strong graphics are only let down by lacklustre character models but they don't matter much in a racing game. Gameplay is fun and there is plenty to do but is let down by some disappointing AI.
It’s that time of the year again: sleigh bells are jingling, halls are being decked, and of course lists are getting checked twice. Lists of the best and worst games of this year that is!

Call of Duty returns with a stellar line-up, a great campaign and ditches wall running, zombies and double jumping (thank Cod!). Definitely worth picking up.
A refreshing take on the RPG genre with the high level of writing we have come to expect from Obsidian Entertainment. Engaging characters and solid combat mechanics make this a must-play for any RPG fan.
Despite some big changes from Wildlands this sequel doesn't quite manage to differentiate itself in a crowded market. While still an immensely fun game with a strong story, it is another Ubisoft 4-person co-op shooter by numbers.
What starts off as a beautiful and unique experience loses it's way fairly early into this short game. While still managing to be a charming game throughout, the painting mechanics aren't quite nuanced enough to hold up for the journey through. A disjointed combat mechanic thrown in mid-way doesn't help either.
A loving coat of fresh paint gives this PSone classic a new life on the PS4. While it still has some of the quirks of PSone gaming it is still great to nostalgically revisit the epic story of Sir Daniel Fortesque.
This year's NBA2K must stand for Need Bank Account 2 Kontinue as parasitic micro-transaction systems ruin a great game. The Best part of this game is the addition of a very well rounded and perfectly executed WNBA game mode.
Although the campaign mode after the end of the Hunter trilogy last year is noticeably missing, a fully fledged Volta Football mode does fill the gap. Some big changes on a gameplay level shake things up and new additions to FUT flesh out that game mode.
Although this remaster is purely a graphical upgrade the game itself is still as charming and fun as ever. A magical fantasy world and a well written story make this game a pure delight to play even on the second time around.
