During the Sony press conference at E3 today it was revealed that the previously untitled Assassin’s Creed game for the Vita will be called Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation.

While Assassin’s Creed 3 will be focussing on the northern areas of the United States (although they weren’t United yet) and the American Revolution, Liberation will center around the south, and the Spanish plans to seize Louisiana. The game will feature the first playable female Assassin named Aveline, and it will follow her from the streets of New Orleans to Mayan ruins and fetid swamps.

Liberation is an entirely stand alone game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise designed specifically for the Vita. It will include the classic AC features we have come to expect including a free-roaming open world and a solid story. Liberation will utilise the same tree top movement that will be included in Assassin’s Creed 3.

Ubisoft are also offering some exclusive bonuses linked to Assassin’s Creed 3 on PS3 and AC3: Liberation on the Vita. Fans who purchase both will receive an in-game version of Connor’s tomahawk, an exclusive character skin, a multiplayer character and a complete upgrade of all ammunition pouches. Sony will also be releasing special Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation bundles with both the 3G and WiFi versions of the Vita which will be available in a new Crystal White colour.

Assassin’s Creed 3, and Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation are both set for release on October 31st 2012.
