There’s a new action RPG coming to town, and judging by the excellent mixing pot of talent that it has come from it’s definitely going to be worth checking out. 38 Studios have pulled together a great team to develop this epic story in the brand new fantasy world of the Amalur.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is a brand new third-person action RPG developed by Big Huge Games and 38 Studios for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. It has clear influences by Fable and the Elder Scrolls series in its design, but the all-star crew of developers have done enough different to definitely set it apart. SA Gaming offers a wide range of online gambling games from HTML5-enabled slots and mobile games to dealer table games and multiplayer games.

Lead designer Ken Rolston (Lead Designer of Morrowind and Oblivion) has put his extensive RPG experience to use, building the massive open-world of Reckoning along with Creative Director Mark Nelson (Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3) and fellow Lead Designer Ian Frazier (Titan Quest). With over 60 hours of gameplay, side quests and exploration they have definitely had their work cut out for them.

The influence of comic legend Todd McFarlane (creator of Spawn and Founder of Image Comics) is plainly obvious in Amalur, as he brings his unique art style to this brand new world as the art and action director. We also can’t forget to mention the 10,000 years of lore and the epic storytelling by best-selling author R.A. Salvatore. It has a total of 8 game modes.  The standard Classic, Endless (Zen) and Survival (Lightning) are included and available to play straight away, plus Quest mode which involves 40 puzzle mini-games.  Something different that B3 offers is leveling up through ranks based on accumulative score.  So far I have unlocked Poker mode  which us very similar to  the gambling games at satta up.

A multitude of different weapon classes and spells make the game’s unique Action Magic combat system really flexible no matter what type of character you decide to play. The brutal Fateshift finishing moves also help to make the game that much more visually entertaining while still keeping the combat interesting. The skills and abilities of your character are also very customizable with a levelling system much like talent trees in World of Warcraft and the grinding aspect is also similar to how you farm endless wow gold. This combined with the game’s new Destiny System allow you to have a really vast amount of options as to how your character develops based on how you choose to play.

Like the sound of it so far? Well EA are offering a number of different pre-order bonuses in a few different retailers across Australia:

EB Games: The Destinies Choice Pack: Offers a unique “Twist of Fate” card to enhance the beginning of your gameplay experience, the Compass of Fate and three unique armor sets. Each armor set is tailored to a specific class which players will define and redefine during their time in Amalur.

GAME or EA’s Origin: The Fate-Touched Weapons Pack: Players can enter battle as fully prepared as ever with an arsenal of rare Fate-Touched weapons including a longbow, hammer, staff, faeblades, daggers, scepter, chakrams, longsword and greatsword. The weapons will help satisfy every player’s combat style with Reckoning’s on-the-fly weapon swapping in combat to take down even the most dreadful of foes.

JB HiFi: The Ultimate Treasure Hunter Pack: For treasure hunters who will dive into every nook and cranny in the world of Amalur, the Dowsing Rod will seek out all reagents for concocting potions on your in-game map. A worthy companion tool for any adventurer, the Dowsing Rod will help players get the most out of their alchemy skill.

The demo is now available for download on Xbox Live, PSN, Steam and Origin, and the game is set for release on February the 9th. Check out the official launch trailer below and keep an eye out for our official review of the game here on Drop Bear Gaming within the next week.
