Sony and Naughty Dog managed to stun the gaming community during the Spike TV Video Game Awards 2011, not with the game it’s now developing but more that they had managed to hold on to an exclusive announcement. When was the last time anything was revealed at a conference or awards night in this industry that wasn’t leaked days before?

So what are they working on, I hear you ask? Well it’s a little Sony exclusive title called ‘The Last of Us’.  The game is said to be a survival/action title that follows two protagonists through a journey across the States. Earth has been decimated by plague and the remaining few humans are fighting for scraps of food and weapons. Our pair, Joel and Ellie must work together to survive…um whatever is out to get them, that bit wasn’t exactly revealed, but from the trailer they look like zombies!

After only a few screenshots and that brief two minute video, I am super pumped for this game. It looks great and knowing the team at Naughty Dag are behind it fills me with confidence it will be a cracker. Just look at the track record – created in 1989 focusing on a few Apple and Mega Drive games, in 1996 they developed Crash Bandicoot for the Playstation and since have smashed the market with hit after hit. Four Crash games in total, four Jak’s games and three Uncharted games that will go down in history as genre-defining titles. What more do you want?

Anyway check out the vid, look in awe at the screenshots and keep your fingers crossed this get released sooner rather than later.
