Better late than never, episode 214 was recorded a little over a month and a half ago but due to moving house and work commitments in the tail end of this year it has taken a while to edit and post. We apologise for the delay!
On this episode the guys discuss shakeups in the executive leadership of Xbox, rumours of internal turmoil at Sony Interactive Entertainment, and the immediate future for Ubisoft and how they are recovering from their losses in 2022. After that the guys share their thoughts on two of the bigger games of 2023: Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We hope you enjoy the show 🙂
Spider-Man 2 is everything we hoped for and more. In this third game in the series we once again get to don the spider suit and swing through a bigger and brighter New York, filled to the brim with stories and people. Insomniac Games really showed their talent for story telling and game design, and have pushed the PS5 beyond any other game yet.
Mirage is a return towards older style AC games with a smaller map, shorter story, and more focus on stealth. While it's a good game in itself the mini-refresh in style doesn't necessarily do enough to outweigh the tiredness of the franchise as a whole.
