Sony Computer Entertainment Australia and Vodafone Australia have confirmed that Vodafone will be the preferred provider for the 3G model of the PS Vita.

After the announcement that Vodafone and Vodafone’s Partners will be the preferred provider in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal, New Zealand, The Netherlands and France, Sony Computer Entertainment Australia have just announced that Vodafone will also be the preferred provider for the PS Vita’s 3G connectivity here in Aus.

The press release sent out by SCEA talks up the latest network improvements by Vodafone, no doubt to try and alay the fears of Aussies who have had bad experiences with Vodafone in the past. Things like the latest upgrades to their tower sites and the plans for their upgrades across the next 12 months were mentioned so we can only hope that this proves to be a good decision by Sony.

Gamers who pick up a 3G model PS Vita will find a Vodafone SIM prepackaged in with the unit and all customers connecting with Vodafone will receive a code to download a free copy of the Vita’s launch title racing game WipEout 2048.

No details have been announced as yet of plan pricing but stay tuned to Drop Bear Gaming for more information as it comes.
